Business Continuity Plans and Planning Processes are only as strong as their weakest link. Many businesses have found through uncomfortable experience that having a BC Planning process in place does not guarantee successful recovery. BC Planning should engage everyone in the business and this means:
- Simple, easy-to-use but effective systems
- Regular monitoring/review to ensure plans are accurate and up-to-date
- Planned invocations to test effectiveness of response
- Focus activity on real-life scenarios ... disaster events do not happen on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Web tools are becoming the de facto standard to ensure that internally, businesses can manage the process effectively and, through externally hosted platforms/systems, processes can be managed if an event occurs.
